Cristóbal Mena

Senior Resilience Consultant

Cristóbal has more than 15 of experience in Disaster Risk Management, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Government & Business Continuity, and Risk Communications. 

He was the former Deputy Director of the Chilean National Emergency Office, where he led key policy changes such as the National Disaster Prevention and Response Law and the National Policy for Disaster Risk Reduction 2020-2030. 

His experience has taken him to work, learn, and build networks around the globe. He has consulted for the World Bank and the World Food Programme in Central Asia, Latin America, and Europe and worked for the private sector in the energy and mining industries. Cristóbal is also a regular speaker and lecturer on Disaster Policies, EP&R, and Disaster Risk Management. 

As part of his volunteer work, he’s been a volunteer firefighter and rescuer for almost 20 years and a member of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps.

Cristóbal holds an MSc in Risk, Disaster & Resilience from University College London and B. Soc. Sci. in Political Science and Public Policy.
